Ridgeview Trade Class stand with ramp built for student

When a Ridgeview student required a home ramp to safely access their residence, the Ridgeview Special Education team partnered with TCSEA OT and PT staff to assess the student’s needs and determine the best solution. Together, they explored funding options, secured the necessary resources, and reached out to Ridgeview’s Building Trades program for help with design and construction.

Under the guidance of their instructor, the Building Trades students took on the project with enthusiasm—planning, measuring, and constructing a custom-built ramp that now allows the student to enter and exit their home safely and independently.

This project reflects the heart of what collaboration in education can achieve: students helping students, educators combining expertise, and a community coming together to promote accessibility, inclusion, and independence.

TCSEA extends sincere thanks to Ridgeview Community Schools, the Building Trades program, and all who contributed their time, skill, and dedication to making this project possible.
