It is my pleasure to work with the students, parents, and educators of Tri-County Special Education Association. I’ve been Tri-County’s Executive Director since 2000. I want Tri-County to provide its member districts with reliable access to specialized support services for children, to administrative services, and to instructional leadership through professional development and collaborative intervention.
My background is as a special education teacher. As an administrator, my primary interest is watching people become excited about learning and doing new things. For that reason, I now enjoy organizing professional development activities and implementing collaborative solutions to tough problems. I also enjoy maintaining a comprehensive set of programs and services that benefit students.
Special education is about supporting learners who have disabilities, but non-disabled students may also experience difficulties in school. Because it is important for Tri-County to help districts support the unique needs of all students, I encourage the flexible use of most services. This gives all learners access to early intervention support. Consistent with that thinking, I've actively supported the use of Response to Intervention, student assistance teams, social skills instruction, behavioral consultation, and assistive technology in local schools. I'm pleased with all that is accomplished for children in Tri-County schools because of the many efforts of professionals and family members. |
