Early Childhood Special Education is…

An educational service model for students ages 3-5 who have disabilities.
Students go through a referral and assessment process before eligibility is established.
The parent is a member of the decision making team which determines eligibility and develops the educational plan.

Education oriented, services are developed and implemented to provide for a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).

Individualized through the IEP process (Individualized Education Plan)

Mandated by IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), state rules, and regulations.

Supported by an array of related services depending on the needs of the child as determined by the IEP team.
